ERNESTO GOMEZ
Senior Manager
Energy & Material Supply
With 25 years of experience in the Industrial and Electricity sectors, Mr. Gomez
is providing sound leadership at BEL. As the Senior Manager of Energy and
Material Supply he oversees the purchase and generation of power by
Independent Power Producers (IPP's) and BEL respectively. He also manages
the controlled dispatching of power through Belize's National Electrical Grid and
maintains responsibility for all the Company's material and service purchases
and material inventory.
Mr. Gomez joined BEL in 1990 as the Western Zone Manager, became the
Manager for Belize's Southern Zone & Cayes and later, the Manager of BEL's
Purchasing and Stores Department and Fleet Department. Prior to BEL, he
served as an Industrial Project Officer at the Development Finance Corporation
(DFC) of Belize where he conducted financial, technical and managerial viability
analysis for industrial projects for which financing was being sought; he later
served as the Factory Engineer for Belize Food Products Ltd., a citrus products
company.
Mr. Gomez holds a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Chemical Engineering and
conducted a Post Graduate attachment in the 'Operation and Design of
Transmission and Distribution Systems and Substations" with an electricity
company in the United Kingdom. He presently serves on numerous Boards,
including the Central Building Authority, Ambergris Caye Local Building Authority
and the Ambergris Caye Citizen's for Sustainable Development and is also a
former Commissioner of the Public Utilities Commission (PUC).
He is a founding member of the Association of Professional Engineers in Belize
(APEB) and has authored two publications privy to his Industry.
