A veteran broadcast journalist turned marine advocate, Janelle Chanona Coye has been leading Oceana's team in Belize since January 2014. As a Belizean, she is convinced that the quality of Belize's future is rooted in the stewardship of its shared natural assets, which directly benefits tens of thousands of Belizeans with healthy food, stable jobs, and a unique way of life. Janelle is a graduate of St. John's Junior College in Belize City, Loyola University in Maryland, Baltimore, USA, and Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom. Janelle has been a member of the Board of Directors since July 2021.
